About

My name is Elide Sulsenti, a cellist and performer passionate about experimentation and innovation. My classical training, which includes studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana and the Hochschule Luzern, as well as academies like the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest, has led me to commit to contemporary music and the exploration of new sounds potentials.

I love exploring the potential of the cello through new lutherie and the integration of both analog and technologic instrumental extensions. I firmly believe that innovation in music also involves the systematic use of new technologies, making them accessible and natural tools for musicians.

For me, artistic creation comes from dialogue. I actively collaborate with composers, commissioning new works for cello and organizing workshops and calls across Europe.
This continuous exchange is essential for developing new ideas and opening new frontiers in music.

I deeply believe in interdisciplinarity, and in my practice, I integrate video art, sound art, sound design, and visual arts, creating my own performances or collaborating with artists from various disciplines. Because of this, I strive to give a thematic and diverse character in styles and genres to my concerts, often introducing alternative instruments, improvisation, and pieces from the repertoire of other instruments among classical repertoire pieces.

Over the years, I have received significant recognitions such as the Valentino Bucchi Award 2024 and the Fritz Gerber Award 2023, and I have participated in numerous world premieres and collaborations with renowned artists and composers. I frequently collaborate with ensembles like the LFCO (Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra), Vadstena-Akademien, Ensemble 900Presente, Divertimento Ensemble and Istantanea Ensemble.

My journey is one of continuous research and experimentation, guided by the belief that the dialogue between performer and composer is the key to authentic and profound innovation in music.
